A bit about me

I’ll start with the flowers

I’ll start with the flowers

I’ll start with the flowers

Gardening was my late mother's favorite - so I carry on the best I can

in the plant beds she left behind.

Now on to the writing

I’ll start with the flowers

I’ll start with the flowers

I spent a decade at our local paper

in small-town Arkansas - but

my journalism always read like stories.

Walking on water begins

I’ll start with the flowers

. . . but life gets in the way

With my husband's blessing, I left my job - we thought just for a few months or so - and I began writing "the book".

. . . but life gets in the way

. . . but life gets in the way

. . . but life gets in the way

I wrote and re-wrote and re-wrote again, yet there were still two kids to raise and parents who needed us all.

All the while, God is good

. . . but life gets in the way

All the while, God is good

My book is finally here - Cornbread -

a Wonderland tale set at a

Southern family reunion - a valley of tests and trials, food and love.

My stories are me

. . . but life gets in the way

All the while, God is good

I'm a child of the Delta, a product of Southern family, a lover of reading,

a blessed wife and mother, and

a believer that it's not all about me.

(But I can throw the occasional hissy fit!)

Different take on a chore

Though it took so much, the pandemic also gave us some very important things

  • gratitude for human connection
  • time to focus on family
  • appreciation for education
  • AND a happy anticipation for food!

Losing our parents

You can laugh or cry

As we watched our parents slipping into dementia, we were carried all the way, embracing the lighter moments, realizing God's grace never left us.
